Her African origins spread through every trade route on the planet. She arrived in the Caribbean from West Africa. She moved through Latin America as agua de Jamaica. She became karkade in North Africa, arhul ka phool in India, and sour tea in Iran. AGUA DE JAMAICA

CARDIOVASCULAR SUPPORT

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial at Tufts University found that drinking three cups of hibiscus tea daily lowered systolic blood pressure by 7.2 mmHg in pre- and mildly hypertensive adults over six weeks. Participants with higher baseline blood pressure showed the greatest response to the hibiscus intervention.*
